Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, we are Roanoke's Community Synagogue! We are an egalitarian, inclusive, diverse, accepting and warm community of Reform and Conservative Jews. Our doors, and our hearts, are open to all who seek an enriching and dynamic Jewish experience. We are affiliated with and uphold the values of the Union for Reform Judaism while simultaneously offering both creative Reform worship services and traditional Conservative services. Contact us to find out more about all our activities for children, families and adults!

We are the only Jewish Reform Congregation in the greater Roanoke and New River Valley region. Our Temple represents a wonderful blend of people from many countries and walks of life. As a relatively small congregation, we serve each other as a warm and welcoming family — always ready to support each other, and always ready to include new members in our mix. Our doors are open to all who wish to learn about Judaism, explore their Jewish heritage, or deepen their Jewish commitment.

We take an innovative approach to Jewish tradition, while remaining true to the values and ethics of our heritage. Temple Emanuel is place of Jewish worship, learning, and assembly, which strives to embody the ideals of “doing right, loving goodness, and walking humbly with our God.” We are a community committed to the tenets of social action and to tikkun olam, the repairing of our world, through participation in the larger general and Jewish communities.
